Why We Give
Giving to the work of the Lord is biblical. We find it laced throughout the Bible from cover to cover. Jesus actually taught more on giving than on the topics of heaven and hell combined.
For the follower of Jesus Christ it is a tremendous privilege to give back a portion of what God has entrusted to us in the first place. All the things we have and enjoy are from the Lord, and in the process of becoming more and more like Him, as we grow in His grace, we learn what it really means to be a giver and no longer a taker.
Here at Grace Bible Baptist Church, we encourage our church family to give a tithe, as well as an offering, as the Lord directs, and to do it cheerfully as unto Him. However, we believe that it is a Holy Spirit-directed and private matter between the giver and the Lord.
2 Corinthians 9:7
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
